New Year Celebrations

In many countries, New Year’s Eve is celebrated at evening parties, where many people dance, eat, drink, and watch or light fireworks. Some Christians attend a watchnight service. The celebrations generally go on past midnight into New Year’s Day, 1 January. At Little Stars Preschool Nursery we first settle children back to the nursery to follow their routine from their holidays and welcome new children to join the nursery and settle them well. We celebrate New Year festival by planning activities based on fireworks theme by making and decorating firework pictures & drawings.

Chinese New Year

The Chinese New Year, also known as Spring Festival or the Lunar New Year, falls on January 25 this year, and people all around the world will be celebrating with parades, prayers, and festive displays of lanterns and fireworks. In Little Stars Preschool Nursery children are learning about Chinese new year and celebrations by making lanterns, making & decorating paper fans, painting & decorating dragons, pretend play in role play area with Chinese restaurant and eating with chop sticks and making Chinese masks. They also dress up with Chinese costumes such as lanterns and dragons. Dancing with dragon to Chinese music.

Valentine’s Day

St Valentine’s Day is an annual festival to celebrate romantic love, friendship and admiration. Every year on 14 February people celebrate this day by sending messages of love and affection to partners, family and friends.
At Little Stars Preschool we celebrate by planning activities with the theme of valentine day and the shape of heart. Children are making and decorating valentine day cards and ornaments to give it to their love ones such as family and friends. They also learn about shape of heart, colour red and do activities based on shape of heart and red colour.

Pancake Day

At Little Stars Preschool children are celebrating pan cake day by making pan cakes and learning about ingredients and measurements. They also enjoy eating together with their friends by adding jam, honey or fruits. Children also paint and decorate pretend pan cakes.

World’S Book Day

World Book Day is the biggest celebration of its kind. The aim of it is to celebrate authors, books, illustrators and – of course – reading! To help young people to do that, book tokens are given out at schools, including some nurseries and secondary schools. In Little Stars Preschool Nursery children and staff are dressing up as their favourite character from their favourite story book. At story time individual children and staff will talk about their outfit and the story character. We also plan activities based on a story book.

Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day is a celebration honouring the mother of the family, as well as motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society. It is celebrated on various days in many parts of the world, most commonly in the months of March or May. At Little Stars Preschool children celebrate mother’s day by planning activities based on theme Mother’s day and making and decorating a card and a gift for their mother, grandmother or love ones.

Easter

Easter is a Christian holiday that celebrates the belief in the resurrection of Jesus Christ. In the New Testament of the Bible, the event is said to have occurred three days after Jesus was crucified by the Romans and died in roughly 30 A.D. At Little Stars Preschool children celebrate easter day by planning activities based on theme easter egg hunting and making and decorating a card and a gift for their family.

Eid Festival

Eid al-Fitr, also called the “Festival of Breaking the Fast”, is a religious holiday celebrated by Muslims worldwide that marks the end of the month-long dawn-to-sunset fasting of Ramadan. At Little Stars Preschool we celebrate by making cards and decorations.

Father’s Day

Father’s Day is celebrated worldwide to recognize the contribution that fathers and father figures make to the lives of their children. This day celebrates fatherhood and male parenting. Although it is celebrated on a variety of dates worldwide, many countries observe this day on the third Sunday in June. At Little Stars Preschool children celebrate father’s day by planning activities based on theme Father’s day and making and decorating a card and a gift for their father, grandfather or love ones.

International Day

This campaign is a global celebration to mark the United Nations International Day of Happiness. At Little Stars Preschool Nursery we encourage children and staff to wear their traditional costumes. We also celebrate by bringing traditional food and decorating the own country flags.

Navratri

The Navaratri festival that celebrates the defeat of Mahishasura by Goddess Durga signifies the victory of good over evil. In some parts of India, people observe fast during Navaratri. On the last day the perform puja and break their fast.
At Little Stars Preschool Nursery Children dress up their party clothes to celebrate this festival and Indian children will wear their traditional clothes. We plan activity based on Navratri by decorating and making their own dandiya sticks to dance garba with their friends for Navratri music. We also sometimes visit our neighbours who have a temple to do the Pooja on the day of the festival.

Halloween Day

The tradition originated with the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, when people would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off ghosts. Over time, Halloween evolved into a day of activities like trick-or-treating, carving jack-o-lanterns, festive gatherings, donning costumes and eating treats. In Little Stars Preschool Nursery we encourage children to dress up as fancy dress and pick a story such as “Witch & the broom stick” and plan activities which link with the story by making broom sticks, decorating cauldron, dressing up as witch, dog, cat, broom stick etc. We also teach children how to carve pumpkin and make Halloween cards & decorations to take home.

Diwali Festival

Diwali is the five-day Festival of Lights, celebrated by millions of Hindus, Sikhs and Jains across the world. Diwali, which for some also coincides with harvest and new year celebrations, is a festival of new beginnings and the triumph of good over evil, and light over darkness. In Little Stars Preschool Nursery we celebrate Diwali by planning activities throughout the five days of festive season by making cards, decorating rangoli and teaching children Indian dancing moves and encourage children to wear Diwali outfits or any party outfits for one of the day to celebrate the festival

Christmas Day

Christmas (or the Feast of the Nativity) is an annual festival commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ, observed primarily on December 25 as a religious and cultural celebration by billions of people around the world. In Little Stars Preschool Nursery we celebrate Christmas by planning activities with a Christmas story theme such as ‘Elvis and the shoe maker’ by making cards and decorations, role play with shoe shop, nativity play on the Christmas party day or singing concerts. We invite parents to participate in their child’s nativity play or concert and Christmas party. We also encourage children to dress up as fancy dress according to our theme such as Elvis, shoe maker, shoe, or snowman, santa clause, elf, Rudolph or their favourite charismas theme characters on the day of our Christmas party. And we invite Santa Clause (Who is DBS Checked) to visit the nursery to give presents to our children.

Other Celebrations

Sports Day

In Little Stars Preschool Nursery we organise and plan activities for sports day for each age group according to their age and stage of development. Children are allow to wear sport outfit.
Picnic

In Little Stars Preschool Nursery we do small picnics throughout the year according to weather forecast. We visit local parks or use our large garden area to have our picnics. We will also have teddy bear picnic by encouraging children to bring their favourite soft toy.

Fun Day

In Little Stars Preschool Nursery we have once a year a fun day by organizing fun day activities such as face painting, nail polish, henna, hair styling, water play, and children also make arts and crafts. We also play games such as musical chairs, musical statue and dancing games.

Graduation Day

At Little Stars Preschool Nursery we organize a concert play based on a story which graduation children participate and we invite parents to celebrate their child’s graduation day with us. We also give a way graduation certificate with a gift and their own work along with their Learning Journals.

Annual Professional studio Photo Day

At Little Stars Preschool Nursery, we invite our photographer to come and take individual and group photos of our children with their age group children and teachers and children who are graduating with the graduating costume. We also invite parents who want to take their family photos and parents can buy their photos by choosing the size and number of photos they required.

Outings

At Little Stars Preschool Nursery we take children short outings to local park, library, shops, walks, post office, etc to expand their learning.
We also do annual picnic and summer trip to places of interest such as farm, zoo, aquarium, soft play area etc.
