  1. What Security measures do you have in place?

    At Little Stars Preschool Nursery, we maintain the highest possible security measures at our premises to ensure that each child is safely cared for during their time with us.
    These measures include:
    – Security Systems are in place for the safe arrival and departure of children.
    – The arrival and departure times of the children are recorded.
    – The arrival and departure times of the staff, volunteers, parents and visitors are recorded.
    – Visitors to the nursery can only enter if approved and accompanied by a senior member of staff.
    – Our systems prevent unauthorised access to our premises.
    – All staff members are subject to enhanced DBS checks and are professionally trained and qualified in all aspects of childcare, including health and safety and paediatric first-aid training. These skills are regularly updated as part of our ongoing training and development.
    – As a parent or carer, we ask that you notify us and provide photo identification for anyone else who is authorised to collect your child. We also use a unique password system.

  2. Do I have to book an appointment to see the nursery?

    Yes, you will be required to book an appointment with us for a tour or to register your child. Appointments fill up fast, so book in advance via the school admissions section or by contacting the office on 020 8863 4094. You will be taken on a guided tour by a senior member of the team who will be able to answer any questions you may have.

  3. How do I register for a place at your Nursery?

    Once you have completed your tour of the nursery and are happy to register your child with Little Stars Preschool Nursery, you will be required to complete the Registration Form. A non-refundable £50 registration fee is payable to secure your child’s place.

  4. What sessions do you offer?

    We are offering a number of set sessions for funded and non-funded children, please see ‘Sessions” for more information.

  5. Can you book extra childcare sessions?

    If you would like to book extra morning or afternoon sessions, in addition to your core sessions, we will try wherever possible to accommodate this. You will be required to give one week advanced notice. However, if your require a last minute extra session, the fees per hour will be more than the usual hourly rate.

  6. Can I swap a session for another?

    Unfortunately, this is not possible due to the number of places allocated per session. If you would like to arrange extra morning and/or afternoon sessions, let us know and we will check availability.

  7. Do you offer sibling discount?

    We are pleased to offer a 10% sibling discount if you place more than one child with us, whether they attend half day or full day sessions.

  8. Do late pick up charge apply?

    If you are late collecting your child from nursery, a late pick-up fee of £1 per minute is applied. Late charges start 5 minutes after your session’s finishing time Eg: 12.05pm (morning half day session)

  9. If we are on holiday and my child is absent do we still have to pay?

    Regrettably, it is not possible to swap or credit childcare sessions missed due to illness or holidays. However, if you are on holiday for more than two weeks, we will require to give us one month advanced notice.

  10. If the nursery is forced to close at short notice for any reason, do I still have to pay?

    Unfortunately, it is not possible to swap or credit childcare sessions that are missed due to events or circumstances beyond our control (‘forces majeures’) which force the nursery to close unexpectedly. For example, extreme weather conditions, flooding etc or the Government enforcing Covid-19 lockdown measures.

  11. Do you have a settling Period?

    Yes, we do have a settling period. We offer one hour of settling in period to your child on the first day with a parent/carer and their keyworker, meeting their new friends and teachers in the classroom. On the second day your child will attend for one hour supported by their keyworker. This will be increased gradually, day by day for a week until your child is fully settled.

  12. Do you have a key worker method in place in your nursery?

    Yes, having a designated key worker for a child in the nursery is very important as the child will be looked after by that key worker. The key worker will support the child in settling into the session. They will make sure that the child needs are met. Eg: nappy change, meal times etc. Key worker will be responsible for planning individual activities in order to encourage learning development in the setting.

  13. Are you open full year around? Do you offer term time only?

    We are offer both full year around and term time, please check the ‘Sessions’.

  14. Do the children have to wear uniform?

    Yes, it is compulsory for children to wear uniform, 2 years and above. However, we only recommend parents to buy them after settling period is over.

  15. What is the nursery adult to child ratios?

    The current OFSTED recommended ratios for under 2’s is 1:3, for 2-3 year olds it is 1:4 and for children aged 3 years and above it is 1:8 or 1:13 with a Qualified Early Years Teacher.
